Obituary: Audrey Meal

Audrey Anna Meal, 86, of Waldron, passed away May 30, 2017 at her residence.

Born January 26, 1931 in Illinois, she was the daughter of George Edgar and Linnie

(Daffron) Stephens. She married Frank Richard Meal on September 14, 1952 and

he passed away on January 19, 2004. She then married Wray Lee Jackson and he

also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: son Paul J. Meal of Waldron, daughter Patricia Schantz (husband Mike)

of Shelbyville, grandchild Kay Ann Hurst (husband Cody) of Shelbyville, and step-grandchildren Daniel and Meghan Schantz of Shelbyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, infant son John Richard Meal, 10 brothers and sisters, William, Hazel, Verla, Alvin, Henry, Colvin, LaFern, Phyllis, Wallace, and an infant sister.

Mrs. Meal had lived in this area for over 70 years, after moving from Illinois. She graduated

from high school in Illinois, and was a member of Waldron Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a member of the 49’s Home Ec Club, Homemaker’s Social Study Club, and was very active in WBC Missionary Women.

Audrey enjoyed playing the dulcimer in the Pitt’s Kitchen Dulcimer Band for many years. She also loved cooking, canning, gardening, and playing euchre.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Waldron Baptist Church, 112 E. Grant St., Waldron, with Pastor Jason Beasley officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 2, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Waldron Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Waldron Baptist Church, OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in care of the funeral home.

The Meal family would like to extend a special thanks to Audrey’s caregivers, Sheryl, Markita, Lisa, Melinda, and Nancy for the kindness and care shown to Audrey.
