1917
The Castelman show, with eight wagons and 25 actors, set up shop in Flat Rock for a series of shows.
1942
Three offices of the Shelby County Medical Association left vacant by physicians going into service with the armed forces were filled during a dinner meeting of the Association at the Strand Alcazar. Dr. P.R. Tindall replaced Dr. R.M. Nigh; Dr. Patton replaced Dr. H.D. Miller; and Dr. E.G. Grover replaced Dr. O.R. Wilson. Dr. Nigh, who headed for Washington D.C. the following day, was a guest of honor. Following the meeting, a social time was enjoyed at the summer cottage of Dr. Tindall on Flat Rock River.
Corp. Richard McCarty returned home on a 15-day furlough from Phoenix, Ariz.
1967
A free mystery and illusion show, “The Amazing Mr. Bradbury,” was hosted by Public Square merchants. In the show was Wally McNutt, the wooden-headed pal of a noted ventriloquist.
1977
The SHS Class of 1932 held their 45-year reunion, with approximately 85 members present. John Ross had been Lord Mayor that year. William O. Scott was named to chair the class’ 50-year reunion.
1992
The Shelbyville Board of Realtors installed new officers Steve Allen, Sherry Butler, and Nancy Borg. Katherine DePrez was named Shelby County Realtor of the Year.
Bruce Knecht retired from umpiring high school baseball game after 31 years and approximately 900 games.
The Mystery-Ettes Extension Homemakers celebrated their 30th anniversary at the Women’s Building at the fairgrounds. Thirty-year members included Reba Fix, Margaret Biolanger, Georgia Hamner, Vyda Limpus, Eileen Rush, and Marjorie Smith.
